Transport from airport to central business district
Taxis are abundant but passengers should always insist they use their meter. Average cost is 28000 Rphs. Taxi rental is an alternative (Blue Bird Taxi is recommended).

Tipping
A 10 percent service charge is levied, but a 5-10 percent service charge is optional. Porters receive 500 Rhps per bag. Tipping taxi drivers is not mandatory but a 750 Rphs tip is appreciated by all.

Banking hours
Banks are open 8 am to 12:00 Noon or 5 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. Banks in hotels often stay open later.

Business Dress
Shirt and tie without jacket, a safari suit or long-sleeved batik shirt is common. Women dress conservatively.

• Central Museum (Museum Nasional) with excellent historical, archaeological and ethnographic exhibitions--one of Asia's best museums, on Jl. Merdeka Barat. Opening hours vary daily. Check.
